Three routes serve the city daily: The Piedmont connects Charlotte and Raleigh; the Carolinian runs to New York; and the Crescent travels from New York to New Orleans.

Greyhound's daily service to and from Charlotte is available with connections to Raleigh, Atlanta, Richmond and more. Other services, including Megabus and Wanderu also offer routes to the Queen City.

LYNX Blue Line Light Rail
With its spring completion, North Carolina's first light rail line connects South Charlotte to Uptown, then continues on to NoDa and The University of NC at Charlotte. On weekdays, the line is available every 7.5 minutes during rush hour and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours. Weekend service operations every 20minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during late night hours. $2.20 each way. Purchase passes from your smartphone with CATSPass, and app from the Charlotte Transit System.

CityLYNX Gold Line
This streetcar system runs east to west connecting neighborhoods to businesses and educational facilities, including Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Central Peidmont Community College and the Charlotte Transportation Center. The Gold Line runs every 15-20 minutes, 6am to 11pm Monday through Thursday, 6am to midnight on Friday, 8am to midnight on Saturday and 9am to 7pm on Sunday. FREE.

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Bus Service
With more than 70 local, express, and regional routes, CATS buses provide more than 25 million passenger trips each year. Most operation from 5am to 2am on weekdays, 6am to 1:30am on Saturdays and 6:30am to midnight on Sundays. $2.20 each way for local routes; $3 each way for express routes; $4.40 each way for regional express routes; children under 5 ride free; seniors and youth grades K-12 ride for half fare with transit ID, Medicare card or valid school ID.

Sprinter Bus
This hybrid-electric bus is an easy way to get from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Uptown, with stops in central locations. It runs every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on nights and weekends. $2.20 each way.
